A modern high storage warehouse is one of the key elements of the Intermodal Logistics Center in Western Port. Taking into account the constantly growing market requirements, especially in the area of logistics and storage facilities, the Port of Gdynia Authority has successfully completed all construction works. This is the first of four warehouses which will be built at the Port of Gdynia and it already found a tenant.

The grand opening was done by: President of the Port Authority of Gdynia - Mr. Adam Meller, Minister - member of the Council of Ministers Mr. Michał Woś, Ambassador of Zambia in Berlin Anthony Mukwita, President of the Humanitarian Aid Foundation Redemtoris Missio - Justyna Janiec - Palczewska.

- Our strategic investment, i.e. the Outer Port, requires the creation of an appropriate environment that will enable efficient handling of goods. Increased transshipment capacity is an opportunity but also a challenge, which is why it is so important to create favorable conditions for further development today - comments Adam Meller - President of PGA SA

- It will be one of the key elements for the Intermodal Logistics Center. In addition to warehouses, an area of 30,000 m2 will also contain storage yards and necessary road and rail infrastructure. Investments in this area of the Port directly match the Strategy of the Port of Gdynia 2027. Our goal is to create favorable conditions for the development of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) - says the Vice President of the Board of the PGA S.A., Grzegorz Dyrmo.

The warehouse with a usable height of 10.5 m is intended for storing highly processed and packed general cargo. Logistics services will be related to storage, acceptance, completing and packaging as well as issuing stocks in the cross-docking system. Divided inside into four storage chambers with an area from 2500 — 4000 sq m, each chamber will be adapted to the dimensions of pallet frame racks with ensuring the width of the working corridor for transport devices — lift trucks with retractable masts. The roof structure of the building is adapted for photovoltaic installation on the entire roof surface.

The opening was combined with the transport of humanitarian aid to Zambia, organized by the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, the Material Reserves Agency and the Redemptoris Missio Humanitarian Aid Foundation. 22 tons of medical equipment was sent by sea from the Port of Gdynia to Zambia. It is intended for 18 medical facilities run by Polish missionaries.

- This is a very important and symbolic day. The commissioning of a new facility in the Gdynia port shows that Poland is developing. The first transport handled in the new warehouse are containers with the largest humanitarian aid in the history of the Polish government. 22 tons of medical equipment for 18 medical facilities run by Polish missionaries in Zambia will serve nearly 200,000 people who need help. A symbolic day, because the Polish philosophy of help on the spot, inscribing in our national interest, is possible thanks to such good economic development of our country. By helping on the spot, we not only fulfill our obligation to support those in need, but we also reduce migration pressure on Europe - says Michał Woś, Minister - Member of the Council of Ministers.
